Four year-old Lola asked her speech therapist today, "Do you have a boss?"
"That is a very good question," said Jill the therapist. "No, I don't. I have my own business."
Excitedly Lola said, "I have my own business, too! Being pretty!"
I think Lola is her biggest professional success to date; Jill says she has "never heard of a child making such astronomical progress." I think, though, that there's a feeling of professional discretion being required (so many families are in the closet about their kids needing speech therapy; so foolish! I'm open about it because that encourages other people to ask questions and it spreads the word about how effective speech therapy can be. Also, Lola is PROUD of how hard she has worked and how much she has accomplished, rather than ashamed of needing help in the first place).

well i'm sure she wouldn't invalidate her professional integrity but she must be as enchanted by lola as we are.
I like her confidence. She's unstoppable.
