From my cat rescue:
We have been asked to foster a 9 month old Maine Coon kitten for 6 weeks. The cat has tested negative for FELV/FIV, but they need to retest in 6 weeks. The reason for this is because of the area where the kitten came from. Some of the cats there tested positive, but not all. The kitten would have to be isolated, so someone who can either keep this kitten separate/not have any other cats/kittens. I know not many fosters don't have cats/kittens.

Yes, people who have one cat often end up wanting more, til you suddenly you find the cats ruling the household. It's part of their evil genius plan!
Just in time for Christmas, too, a kitty under the tree!

Portland now (the big city -- at least in these parts), but I grew up in Bridgton, speaking of proximity to tax-free N.H.
And I've also hung my hat in Rockland and Thomaston (where I lived in A big house with a lot of housemates, but not THE big house with a lot of, er, housemates).
P.S. I cannot tell a Iie: I am not a native Mainer. I was born in Pa., but we moved north when I was 4 due to parental back-to-the-land impulses.
